What’s included in the new solution?
Modern Desktop uses Windows 11 and replaces your current operating system. The new operating system will look and feel a little different to Windows 11, but all your apps will be the same as your current ones. For GO Desktop users, the new system provides you with a new way to self-manage and install your apps and stay up-to-date.
What are the key benefits?
Modern Desktop makes it easier to access the tools you need to get your job done. It offers secure and easy access to all your applications unique to your work and cloud services such as Microsoft 365 on any device, anytime, anywhere. It provides you will the ability to self-manage your device.
Will my existing software be automatically transferred over? If not, how will this be managed?
Standard business applications as identified by your department will be, these may be either automatically installed or made available to install from the Company Portal. Software that was manually installed previous will need to be manually installed again. Installation requests can me made through the Service Desk, similar to current arrangements.
Will my existing software work with Modern Desktop?
Software that is designed to work with Windows 10/11 will work in Modern Desktop. Standard business applications that you currently use will work with Modern Desktop. If you have any issues with existing software, please contact the Service Desk.
Modern Desktop is ‘device agnostic’. Does that mean it will support Mac and personal devices?
Currently only Corporate devices are to be supported. Macs OS might be supported in the future, however Personal devices (BYOD) is out of scope.
